The Have-Nots (Die Habenichtse)
Synopsis
Isabelle and Jakob know it all and yet of one thing they know nothing: themselves. They meet in Berlin at a party on September 11th. Soon they marry and move to London, where Jakob takes the post of a friend killed in the 9/11 attack. Each passing day the couple's relationship proves more fragile. While Jakob feels guilty in relation to his friend's death, Isabelle seeks meaning in a dangerous affair. Torn between seduction and faith, guilt and innocence, they start to play a precarious game. When violence finally erupts, it seems as if they have built their relationship on the ruins of the World Trade Center.
This adaptation of Katharina Hacker's bestselling novel which won the German Book Prize in 2006 is planned as a German-British co-production.
